Scam department?
I talked about how I was (almost) scammed last month.
At work, two of our customers shared their personal scam stories.
One received a call after trying to access her mobile app for two days. She was asked if she was having any difficulty with her account and the caller was (more than) willing (of course) to assist her with her concerns.
She lost over ₱700,000 from her savings account. She had asked through the bank’s hotline to freeze her account. However, with insufficient proof of ownership given the time, the money continued to be transferred elsewhere.
It only lasted a couple of seconds. The victim received SMS texts indicating the deducted amounts.
This particular customer of ours shared her story when we asked the type of lens she’ll be purchasing from us.
Another customer had the same story as mine. Only she proceeded to give her OTP while her money was still in her account. We talked briefly. She said her concern is under investigation. I hope she gets her money back. Both of them, of course.
I didn’t have to tell my story, no. That would be mean and insensitive.
But you know the common thing we three had in our stories?
BDO.
They know our mobile numbers and our full names. It's sickening to know that you have to deceive someone in order to make a living.
Is this a mere coincidence? Or does the bank have a scam department to pay for their unpaid loans and increase their revenues?
