MICHAEL ROXAS

Bio

I’m an optometrist and software developer based in the Philippines. 🇵🇭

I work part time as a clinic instructor; guiding clinicians through patient care, recording and re-validating data, and turning clinical theory into practice.

Outside the clinic, I write software for the eye care profession. My tool of choice is Ruby, I enjoy its readability and its clarity holds up remarkably well even alongside agentic workflows.

Right now, I'm building OptoReview, an online platform to help Filipino students prepare for the Optometry Licensure Examination.

This blog is my public notebook. Feel free to use whatever notes you find helpful here.

Let me know if you have questions, feedback, or disagreements. Since the tools I build often live offline on mobile and desktop as well as the web, the writing here tends to wander across clinical practice, software design, and ordinary observations.

When I’m offline, I’m usually reading, taking long walks, or brewing coffee at home.
