Bukid Cafe
I had planned to take AK out for a coffee date in Bukid Cafe tomorrow. Initially she was asked to report to work today But since they cancelled that, we'll just make do.
I had an appointment with a neurologist that had a specialty in sleep medicine for my apnea. The doctor's schedule was from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. I was there at 9 for my registration. To my surprise I'm queued for the 26th patient.
I thought I'd be the earliest. Apparently 24 other people thought of the same thing.
So AK and I decided to swap the schedule for coffee and the appointment.
I was told to come back after lunch, around 1:00 PM.
On our way out clinic, it started drizzling. I told AK we're passing by the apartment to get some rain essentials.
"I don't think it's going to rain that hard," she said as the clouds were turning more gray.
She was right. It didn't. In fact on our way to the our destination, it was scorching hot!
We reached the cafe at around 10:40 AM. We settled down our helmets and jackets. AK brought out the tools for her new-found hobby, crocheting. And I, reading a book.
As soon as the cafe opened, I asked for the menu. The menu contained the usual meals you'll find in any other cafe in Rizal-- tapsilog, sisig, etc.
As for the coffee---nothing fancy. Nothing special.
The place was quiet and ambient. And for us that was enough.
AK ordered the cafe latte with no sugar. I indulged myself with a sea salt latte.
I would inquire from the clinic over text and call on the queue status from time to time. It's already 11:30 and the doctor hasn't even arrived yet.
We got our orders around 11:45 AM and the food was satisfyingly presentable.
Famished, no time for food pictures. We just dove in and ate.
After meals, I called the clinic again. The doctor had already arrived, and was consulting with the 8th patient. So there was no need to rush on the way back.
AK continued her crocheting. I continued reading. I'd interrupt her with an interesting idea from my book. She'd tell me how she's achieved the pattern that took her some time to get right.
These are the moments I look forward to. Despite the monotonous work routine, health issues, and life's drama.
I'd recommend the cafe for a short vacation in nature. It's located in Morong, 40 minutes away from Antipolo. It wasn't crowded when we went there. There didn't seem to have enough lamp posts on the way, it's a bit hidden and can be easily missed. It'd be better to travel by day, or have a reliable set of headlights by dark.
We packed our things and left around 1:00 PM.
Here are some pictures.
