More About Me

Updated on: 24 Mar 2026

Someday this will be all that is left of me.

My Time on earth:

1997
Born in Manila, Philippines.

1999
Lived in the municipality of Cainta, Rizal Province. Finished preschool there.

2003
Moved to Pandacan, Manila, NCR. And for the next decade, I would attend a Catholic school for my primary education.

2010 Went to Ramon Magsaysay High School — Manila.

2013 Had dengue. Some members of the Work visited me in the hospital. This was the first time I interacted with one outside school purposes.

2014
I started college for the degree, Doctor of Optometry, a six-year program from Centro Escolar University - Manila.

2020
COVID hit nearing graduation, and we shifted everything online. Review classes and licensure exams had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

2021
Out of boredom, I got intro'd to programming. I was in and out of learning (aka Tutorial Hell).

I set code aside to focus on my board exam in January.

2022
We finished the practical portion of the exam in February. The following month, I got my first job.

I learned how to ride a motorcycle before I purchased one. I used it most of the time for work. Months later, I took a sabbatical from that job for what I thought would be a "part-time" one.

2024
I had proposed to my girlfriend of almost 10 years. She said yes.

2025 Got married, sooner than planned.

Now
Recovering from my injuries and thinking about the next steps in my career.

On the side, I continue to build projects, savor moments brewing coffee at home, nerding on films, riding bikes, seeing sunrises, and spending time with my wife. .

Other things...

I write

I have always been a fan of pen and paper. But recently, I have decided to immortalize some of those writings in the open web. I write for my future and past self.

Publishing my writings is a step outside my comfort zone. If encourages me to think clearly. And writing well can be quite challenging.

I like Latin

Salve! Ever since I started praying in Latin, I had an interest in etymology. Most of the technical terms used in medicine, law, and financing came from Latin. I don’t speak it (yet). But I know some people who do.

I’m an avid reader

From Latin to history of languages, to the history of religions, the Bible, Christian apologetics, books, articles, blogs, and many more. I mentioned before that I like to write. Reading is a prerequisite to writing. You don’t start writing from a blank page.

I am a slow thinker (and no-thinker)

When somebody tells a witty joke, it takes some time for me to process it. I would chuckle and then laugh when everybody else has moved on from the said subject. The same applies for deep conversations, unless I’m really interested in them—topics like optometry, movies watched, books read, business and AI.

I play the guitar

I still have my guitar that my parents bought me 12 years ago. However, I don't play much these days. Only when I come across a song that I think I can play it by ear.

I had it repaired and cleaned last Dec 2024. I was told that the brand (Fernando) was phased out and it's now a collector's item. I got it a stand, giving the instrument's right to breathe (it used to be just in the bag for a couple of years until recently.)

I hated the idea of being a motorcyclist until I learned to be one. Now, I hate (most) motorcyclists on the road.

I enjoy biking. It’s convenient and liberating at the same time. My wife and I take a few rides to the province. We love the green scenery in the journey and a cup of coffee with a view of the sunrise in our destination.

There are times when people ride as if they got nine lives. They don’t wear helmets. No gloves. Just flip flops. And when they do get into an accident—they say sorry and use the poverty card to avoid paying for damages.

I refuse to participate in that kind of gig.

I journal

I have been journaling for as long as I can remember. It wasn’t until December 2024 did I become more consistent with writing. I couldn't recommend it enough. It declutters the mind and it forces you to think (and speak) clearly. I'm using Bear Notes these days.

I'm not that invested in social media.

I had unfriended all my Facebook friends back in 2022 and it’s one of the best decisions I ever made on the internet. I still have Instagram, Twitter/X, and TikTok. But those platforms are simply for checking establishments/businesses and sending memes to relatives, friends, and my wife.

My wife sends me reels every now and then. I don’t see them immediately. There are times when I’d open my app see 70+ reels sent to me. I watch them beside her so she sees my immediate reactions.

I prefer enjoying the moment.

I'd rather write about the experience rather than keeping it on a photo. But that doesn't mean I won't take photos (although I do think I should take more). It's always nice to look at something in the past in anticipation to the future.
